HOA Connect Houston’s May 27 workshop, Financial Wellness for Your Community, brought together HOA board members, community managers, and industry experts at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy in Richmond to explore strategies for strengthening association finances and protecting community assets. Attendees heard from professionals in reserve planning, community management, law enforcement, and telecommunications, gaining practical insights into long-term financial planning, risk management, and opportunities to enhance community value.
Presentations covered the importance of reserve studies and funding strategies, the role of professional management in budgeting, transparency, and financial oversight, and best practices for preventing fraud and cybersecurity threats. Speakers emphasized proactive planning, strong internal controls, and informed decision-making as key components of a financially healthy association. The evening concluded with a discussion on telecommunications partnerships and how communities can leverage vendor agreements to reduce costs, generate revenue, and improve resident amenities.
In addition to the educational sessions, the event provided valuable networking opportunities for HOA leaders across the Greater Houston area to share ideas and discuss common challenges. HOA Connect Houston thanked its speakers, sponsors, vendors, and attendees for contributing to a successful event and encouraged community leaders to participate in future workshops focused on supporting strong, thriving neighborhoods.
